Description
The frame is sturdy and has geometry similar to a mountain bike, but forms a more upright sitting position than a mountain bike, with less strain on the hands and better visibility. This frame is for longer trips, and is often designed for fitting various accessories like mudguards and racks.
As a material, steel is extremely strong. It is easy to weld, and cheaper than aluminium or carbon fibre.
Plastic mudguards are often used to keep the overall weight of the bike to a minimum and to accommodate an additional pannier rack.
Internal gears require the least maintenance.
